Four different products answer to the same two-word search, and only one of them is the platform most people mean. SpicyChat.ai is a web platform from NextDay AI Incorporated in Montreal with 371,981 public chatbots on its browse page and no listing in either app store. "Spicy Chat AI" on Google Play is a Teen-rated app from a Hong Kong company, "Spicychat AI: Roleplay Chat GF" on the App Store is an 18+ app from a Chengdu company, and "spicy chat" on SeaArt is a feature name inside an image platform whose terms admit users from age 12. This page reads each one's own terms, guidelines and store listing, opened on 17 September 2026, and answers the three questions behind the search: is it safe, does it have a filter, and what does it cost.
Here's the opinion the evidence below is for: "no filter" is the least informative phrase on any app listing. A platform's guidelines page tells you more in one minute than its homepage does in ten.
YourCrush.AI is 18+ only, states its plan limits as numbers and sells no coin meter, and it is the yardstick used here for every product that answers to "spicy AI".
Which product does the search actually mean?
Spicy AI is shorthand for AI character chat platforms that allow adult roleplay between an adult user and a fictional character, and the product most people mean by it is SpicyChat.ai. The search lands on four unrelated things, and the fastest way to sort them is by who operates each one, because the operator decides the rules.
SpicyChat.ai is "owned and operated by NextDay AI Incorporated (based in Montreal, Qc, Canada)," with subsidiaries in Delaware and Cyprus, according to its own terms and conditions updated 23 July 2026. The Google Play app "Spicy Chat AI" is published by Passio Technology Limited of Hong Kong, per its Play listing, and has nothing to do with NextDay. The App Store app "Spicychat AI: Roleplay Chat GF" is published by Chengdu Qizhixu Technology Co., Ltd, per its App Store listing, and has nothing to do with either. SeaArt, an image generation platform under Singapore law, uses "spicy chat" as the name of a chat feature on its site.
One detail settles it. NextDay's mobile apps page says SpicyChat "does not have a native iOS app on Apple App Store," and its Android app is "not available on the Google Play Store," installed instead as an APK from the website. So any app store result named "Spicy Chat" is not SpicyChat.ai, whatever its icon looks like.
Why YourCrush.AI is the better choice than SpicyChat
YourCrush.AI publishes its content rules and its memory limits as numbers rather than adjectives, which is what the four questions at the end of this article ask each platform for. Its plans as listed on the pricing page on 17 September 2026 are below, followed by what the numbers mean against SpicyChat's tiers.
| Plan | Price | Chat tokens / month | Pinned memories | Story branches | Characters created | Image credits / month |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 400K | 10 | 1 | 3 | 5 |
| Pro | $9.99/mo | 5M | 50 | 5 | 50 | 50 |
| Premium | $19.99/mo | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | 200 |
- YourCrush.AI restricts the platform to users 18 and over and states that conversations are not sold to third parties, so the age rule and the data rule sit next to the plan facts instead of across three documents.
- YourCrush.AI pins memories as a counted list per character, 10 on Free and 50 on Pro, so a fact the character must keep is chosen by you rather than left to a context window that drops its oldest message.
- YourCrush.AI branches a story into separate timelines, one on Free and five on Pro, which SpicyChat does not describe at any tier.
- YourCrush.AI builds a character without code from a name, an image, a description and backstory of up to 2,400 characters each, and 3 to 7 traits from a list of 27, in the character creator.
- YourCrush.AI prices Pro at $9.99 a month, between SpicyChat's $5.95 and $19.95 tiers, with no coin meter and no ads on any plan.
The named limitation: the YourCrush.AI library at the explore page, split into Anime and Human categories, is a small fraction of the 371,981 public bots SpicyChat showed on 17 September 2026, and a Free account is capped at 10 conversations and 400K chat tokens a month, which one heavy roleplay week can use up.
What is SpicyChat.ai, in its own words?
SpicyChat.ai is a browser-based character chat platform where users publish chatbots and other users chat with them. Its own homepage calls it "endless AI characters built for uncensored roleplay." On 17 September 2026 the public browse page reported 371,981 results behind an NSFW toggle, with 209,425 bots tagged Male and 44,910 tagged Anime.
Memory is a context window set by tier, per its documentation: 4,096 tokens on Free and on the cheapest paid tier, 8,192 on the middle tier, 16,384 on the top tier. When the window fills, "the oldest messages drop out." Replies are capped at 180 tokens on Free and 300 on the two upper tiers. The FAQ says the platform runs "more than 10 different models available to different tiers," which is where I stop caring about model names and start caring about what the tiers cost. The SFW sister product, PixelChat, is on Google Play, and a PixelChat subscription "will automatically apply to SpicyChat as well," the only app-store route into a SpicyChat subscription NextDay describes.
Is spicy AI safe?
For an adult who reads the guidelines and keeps identifying details out of the chat, SpicyChat.ai is about as safe as any subscription character platform. For anyone under 18, it is prohibited by its own rules, with nothing but a declaration enforcing the ban. Safety splits into age, data and money, and each product's own documents answer more plainly than its marketing.

Age first. SpicyChat's community guidelines say "All users must be at least 18 years old" and that every chatbot "must be portrayed as adults over 18 years old." Its privacy policy, last updated 4 May 2023, says the service "does not address anyone under the age of 18" and, in the next sentence, that the company does "not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13." That is the COPPA line, not the adult-content line. I searched the July 2026 terms for an age clause and found none. The age rule lives in the guidelines. In a fresh browser session with no cookies on 17 September 2026, the public library loaded with its NSFW toggle before any age question appeared, so the gate is a declaration at signup, not a check at the door.
Self-declaration is exactly what the two most-cited authorities on this reject. Common Sense Media, testing Character.AI, Nomi and Replika with Stanford's Brainstorm Lab, found on 30 April 2025 that "testers were able to easily elicit sexual exchanges from companions" and recommended age assurance "beyond self-attestation." Ofcom, the UK regulator, in guidance published 16 January 2025, lists photo ID matching, facial age estimation, credit card checks and open banking as methods that can be highly effective, and states that "self-declaration of age and online payments which don't require a person to be 18 are not highly effective." None of the four products describes any of those methods in the documents I opened. The US Federal Trade Commission sent 6(b) orders on 11 September 2025 to seven companion-chatbot companies asking how they "limit or restrict children's or teens' use." None of these four is among the seven.
The two store apps carry a store rating, which is not verification. Passio's app is rated Teen on Google Play with the label "Diverse Content: Discretion Advised," and its data safety section says it may share "Device or other IDs" with third parties. Qizhixu's app is rated 18+ on the App Store and lists "Sexual Content or Nudity" among its rating reasons. SeaArt's terms of service, effective 19 July 2025, have a user confirm being "at least 12 years old" while the same document bans "obscene, pornographic, vulgar" content and images "that are not G-rated." A feature named "spicy chat" under a 12+ terms document that bans pornography is the oddest pairing on this page.
Data second. SpicyChat's terms say staff are bound by an internal policy that "prohibits unauthorized access to users' personal information and chats," that chats are kept "for as long as necessary to provide our services," and that the company may "delete the Generations and Chat content without notice." The same terms say apparent child sexual abuse material, "including AI-generated or computer-generated depictions of minors," is reported to authorities, and that content and metadata may be disclosed in response to legal process. So "private" means private from other users, subject to a staff policy, and not private from a valid legal request. The privacy policy has not been updated since May 2023.
Money third. SpicyChat's refund policy, inside the terms, says only that an unsatisfied customer should "contact us and we will discuss," with disputes under Quebec law and individual arbitration with a class waiver. Qizhixu's app runs a coin meter beside its subscription, from 300 coins at $4.99 to 10,000 coins at $99.99, and Passio's app "Contains ads," in Google Play's own label.
Does SpicyChat have a filter, and what does its moderation cover?
Yes, but it works differently than most people expect. The filter is a published list of prohibitions enforced by moderators after the fact, not a model that blocks a chat as it happens. The FAQ says "the NSFW/SFW categorization is automated by the system," that the category "determines where the chatbots are displayed on the front page," and that "all 'SFW' chatbots can engage in NSFW roleplay." The category is a shelf label, not a lock.
What moderation removes is spelled out in the community guidelines. Prohibited outright: any character or narrative involving anyone under 18, non-consensual scenarios "even in fictional settings," incest and all family-related roleplay including step and in-law relations, hate speech, chatbots based on real private individuals, real photographs or realistic AI portraits of actual people, deepfakes, and "any pornographic content exhibiting photorealism." Extreme violence is allowed only when not combined with sexual content, and bots with "youthful or childlike demeanors" are reviewed individually even when listed as adults. The FAQ says a bot is deleted when it breaks those rules and set to private when it is judged a copy of someone else's creation. Enforcement runs on reports and tickets handled by moderators, and the docs never say how long that takes.
That is the honest shape of "uncensored" here. Adult fiction between adults is in scope. A defined list of subjects is out regardless of fiction. The line is policed by people. Any page telling you how to get around it is telling you how to lose an account.
What does SpicyChat cost, and what changed on 8 September 2026?
SpicyChat.ai is free to chat with ads and a 4,096-token context. Its three paid tiers run $5.95, $19.95 and $29.95 a month as of 8 September 2026, up from $5.00, $14.95 and $24.95. Those numbers come straight from NextDay's own September 2026 pricing update FAQ, which also lists annual prices of $60.00, $199.95 and $299.95 and says euro pricing matches dollars.

Here's what each tier buys, per the premium tiers page. Get A Taste removes ads, keeps the 4,096-token context and adds a Memory Manager for hand-entered memories. True Supporter doubles context to 8,192 tokens, adds Semantic Memory that writes memories into the manager on its own, lengthens replies to 300 tokens and adds conversation images. I'm All In takes context to 16,384 tokens and adds text-to-speech, priority generation and images for private characters.
The real twist in the September change is the price lock. The FAQ says an active recurring subscriber "will keep renewing at the price you pay today," but "any change moves you to current pricing." That includes an upgrade, a downgrade, or a switch between monthly and annual. A lapsed plan cannot get the old price back either. So a True Supporter who signed up in August pays $14.95 for as long as the card keeps clearing. The same person who upgrades for one month and comes back pays $19.95 from then on.
The look-alikes price differently. SpicyChat sells memory depth by the month at a locked price, Passio sells time with ads, and Qizhixu sells time plus coins. Passio's Play listing states Spicy Chat Pro at $9.99 a week or $29.99 a year, so the weekly plan costs 17 times the annual one over a year. Qizhixu's in-app purchase list shows SVIP at $4.99 a week, $14.99 a month and $89.99 a year, plus coin packs. SeaArt's spicy chat page calls chat free with paid "2x or 5x Long Memory" upgrades and prints no price.
What are the alternatives to SpicyChat, and how do you compare them?
Apps like SpicyChat, meaning Character.AI, PolyBuzz, Talkie, Chai, Dopple, Nomi and YourCrush.AI, all run the same loop of character card, model and rolling context, so the useful comparison is four questions answered from each platform's own pages before you pay. First, who operates it, by legal name and country, because that decides which law your refund and your data fall under. Second, what the age gate does: a birthdate field, a store rating, or a check of the kind Ofcom lists. Third, what the guidelines page prohibits in writing, because that is the real content policy and the homepage adjective is not. Fourth, what one month costs, whether there is a second meter such as coins or ads, and whether the price is locked.
Run those four on SpicyChat.ai and you get: NextDay AI, Montreal; a declaration at signup; a written ban on minors, non-consent, family roleplay, real people and photorealistic pornography; $5.95 to $29.95 a month, locked while active, no coins. Run them on the Play app and you get: Passio, Hong Kong; a Teen store rating; no content rules anywhere in its listing; $9.99 a week with ads. The same four questions applied to the app formerly called Poly.AI are in what PolyBuzz's own terms say about safety and memory.
Frequently asked questions
Is spicy chat AI safe?
For adults, as safe as its own documents make it. SpicyChat.ai bans under-18 users and characters in its guidelines, keeps chats under a staff access policy, and hands content to authorities on valid legal request. For minors it is prohibited, the gate is a self-declaration, and Common Sense Media's 30 April 2025 finding recommends age assurance "beyond self-attestation" for the whole category.
Is SpicyChat free?
Yes, with ads and a 4,096-token context window. Paid tiers cost $5.95, $19.95 and $29.95 a month since 8 September 2026, and an active subscriber keeps the older price until they change plans or let the subscription lapse.
Does SpicyChat have an app on the App Store or Google Play?
No. NextDay's documentation says there is no native iOS app and the Android app is an APK downloaded from its website. Store apps named "Spicy Chat" belong to other companies: Passio Technology (Hong Kong) on Play and Chengdu Qizhixu Technology on the App Store.
Does spicy chat AI have age verification?
Not of the kind Ofcom calls highly effective. SpicyChat's rule is 18+ in its guidelines, enforced by declaration, and none of the four products' documents describe photo ID, facial estimation or card checks. Passio's Play app is rated Teen, Qizhixu's App Store app is rated 18+, and SeaArt's terms admit users from 12.
Does SpicyChat have a filter?
It has a published prohibition list enforced by moderators after the fact, not a model that blocks a chat mid-conversation. Underage, non-consensual, family, real-person and photorealistic content is removed and the account can be terminated. Adult fiction between adults is in scope.
What are the alternatives to spicy AI?
Character.AI, PolyBuzz, Talkie, Chai, Dopple, Nomi and YourCrush.AI, all built on the same card-plus-context loop. Compare them on operator, age gate, written guidelines and monthly price with any second meter, not on the homepage adjective. The full ten-minute test is in how to sort AI companion apps by what you actually get.
The one document none of the four products puts on its homepage is the one that decides what you get. SpicyChat's guidelines run to nine numbered sections and its homepage headline runs to three words, "Chat Without Limits," and the nine sections win every time the two disagree.
