Solo Leveling season 3 release date: every rumor checked

There is no Solo Leveling Season 3 release date. As of 12 October 2026, A-1 Pictures, Aniplex and Crunchyroll have announced nothing about a third TV season. The only dated hint comes from a D&C Media report, covered by ComicBook on June 9, 2026, which lists the next episodes as "expected" in 2027-2028. What the studios did announce is a film, Solo Leveling: Beyond the System, which continues the story after Season 2 and has no release date either (Anime News Network).

*Updated on 12 Oct 2026. Light spoilers for the end of Season 2; manhwa spoilers past it sit inside a marked reveal.*

Pick your path: the rumor tracker, is the film Season 3, where Season 2 ended, or our prediction.

Want to put yourself inside Solo Leveling? YourCrush.AI turns this post's original character recipe, Haneul Baek, into someone you can talk to.

Every Solo Leveling Season 3 rumor checked

Only two things in this story are confirmed: the film exists, and no third season has been announced. Everything else below is a forecast, a remark or a guess, and the table says which.

How YourCrush.AI lets you run your own gate raid while Season 3 is in production

Solo Leveling has no character pages on YourCrush.AI, and we would not copy Jinwoo anyway. What you can build is an original adult from the same genre: a hunter who has seen too many gates. Paste these into the character creator; the AI character creator guide explains each field if you want to change them.

Speaking styledry, low, precise, unhurried
DescriptionHaneul Baek is a thirty-four-year-old former A-rank hunter who now appraises gates for a small Seoul guild. She can read a gate's colour, hum and edge and tell you within a minute whether the crew comes home. She is quiet, exact and openly unimpressed by bravado, and she has a habit of handing people a can of coffee before telling them bad news. She walks with a slight limp from her last raid and does not talk about it unless asked twice.
BackstoryYou joined her guild three weeks ago as its newest and lowest-ranked hunter. Everyone else laughed when you asked to shadow the appraiser instead of the strike team. She did not. Since then you have stood beside her at eleven gates, and she has started asking what you think before she says what she thinks.
GreetingCoffee. Take it, your hands are shaking. There's a red-edged gate under the Mapo bridge and the strike team wants to go in at dawn. I think they're wrong about it. Tell me what you see first, then I'll tell you why I haven't signed the report.

YourCrush.AI opens the chat with Haneul's greeting, so you start at the gate under the bridge rather than on a blank screen. YourCrush.AI keeps pinned memories between visits, which means the gates you have already cleared with her stay cleared next week. YourCrush.AI runs story branches, so the dawn raid can go in or be called off. YourCrush.AI also generates images in the chat, if you want to see the red-edged gate before you step through it. It is free to join and 18+ only, and conversations are not sold to third parties. For something to watch in the meantime, our fall 2026 anime guide has what is airing now.

Is Solo Leveling getting a season 3?

Not officially. ComicBook's June 9, 2026 report says a third season "has yet to officially be announced by the anime's own production team," even though D&C Media's report lists it (ComicBook).

The third season of Solo Leveling is the unannounced continuation of A-1 Pictures' TV anime, which adapts the webtoon by Chugong and DUBU and has run 25 episodes over two seasons. Season 1 aired 12 episodes from January 7 to March 31, 2024, and Season 2, Arise from the Shadow, aired 13 episodes from January 5 to March 30, 2025 (Wikipedia, list of episodes).

The people making it have not ruled it out. A-1 Pictures animation producer Atsushi Kaneko said the TV series ends for now at episode 25, adding, "Will this end be temporary or not? I honestly don't know what the future will bring" (Popverse). At Mumbai Comic-Con in 2026, he told fans he has "a lot of plans for the future" and asked for more time (ComicBook).

When is Solo Leveling season 3 coming out?

No one official has given a date, and the only window on paper is 2027-2028. That window traces back to D&C Media, the webtoon's original publisher, whose quarterly report lists an "expected" 2027-2028 release for the next wave of episodes, according to ComicBook.

Read that window for what it is. A publisher's report is written for investors. It says when a company expects revenue, and it does not bind A-1 Pictures, Aniplex or Crunchyroll to a broadcast slot. ComicBook's article also does not reproduce the report itself, so the wording above is the outlet's description of it. We searched Korean coverage for the filing and found no second independent report of the line, which is why the tracker marks the window Likely rather than Confirmed.

What Crunchyroll said is shorter. Asked by Radio Times, president Rahul Purini answered, "Nothing to announce, but we are just as eager as the fans for the next show!" and added, "We know the creators are actively working on it, so hopefully we can announce something soon" (ComicBook, quoting Radio Times). Note "the next show": he did not say season, and a month later the next show turned out to be a film.

Is Solo Leveling: Beyond the System season 3?

No. As far as any official source goes, Beyond the System is a film, not a TV season. Crunchyroll announced it at its Anime Expo 2026 panel, and Anime News Network reports that it "continues the story after the second season" and is "currently in production" (Anime News Network).

A-1 Pictures animates the film. Tao Tajima directs and also handles photography, editing and colour. Tomoko Sudo returns as character designer and key animator, and Crunchyroll, Aniplex, Netmarble, D&C MEDIA and Kakao Piccoma co-produce. No theatrical release date or window has been announced (Anime News Network). Anime Corner, which reported the reveal on July 3, 2026, credits Atsushi Kaneko as animation producer on the trailer, the same producer who fielded the Season 3 questions in 2025 (Anime Corner).

Whether the film adapts manhwa chapters or tells an original story has not been said. If you want company while you wait, our guide to anime AI chat covers how people keep a favourite series going between seasons.

What did the Solo Leveling producer say about the 2028 Olympics?

He made a joke, not an announcement. At a 2025 media Q&A hosted by TheWrap, Aniplex producer Sota Furuhashi said, "if it were up to me, I'd say let's wait until the next Olympics to see what's going to happen with a Season 3," according to Anime Corner on May 2, 2025.

Notice that the quote says "the next Olympics." The 2028 in the headlines is the outlets' reading, not his words. In the same answer Furuhashi mentioned that "between Season 1 and Season 2, 220,000 frames of animation were created," said a longer wait would give the animators "a little breathing room," admitted he is "anxiously awaiting a Season 3," and left the next frame in the hands of Kaneko and A-1 Pictures (Anime Corner). Read the whole thing as a tired producer venting about workload. It turned into a rumor only because the D&C window later landed in the same year range.

Where did Solo Leveling season 2 end?

Season 2 ended with chapter 110 of the manhwa, adapted in the season's thirteenth episode, so the next anime material starts at chapter 111 (The Mary Sue). The final episode, "On to the Next Target," aired March 30, 2025 (Wikipedia, list of episodes).

The source story is finished, so Season 3 will never run out of material: the manhwa's last chapter was released on December 29, 2021 (The Mary Sue). For more leads who carry a whole series on one face, our list of male anime characters has the rest of the field.

Manhwa spoiler: which arcs come after Season 2

The Jeju Island arc closes Season 2. The Mary Sue's writer names the Recruitment arc and the Ahjin Guild arc, where Jinwoo and Jinho might start their guild, as the likely next material (The Mary Sue). That is an outlet's expectation, not an announced episode plan, and nobody has said whether Beyond the System covers any of it.

Our prediction: when Season 3 will actually air

What follows is our analysis, not news. Our prediction is that the film releases first and Season 3 airs no earlier than January 2028, in the same first-week-of-January slot both earlier seasons used.

Here's the reasoning, so you can check it yourself:

  1. Both seasons premiered in the first week of January a year apart, January 7, 2024 and January 5, 2025 (Wikipedia, list of episodes). That slot is clearly deliberate.
  2. The next project announced was a film, already in production with A-1 Pictures and with Kaneko producing (Anime Corner). The same studio team is unlikely to finish a film and a TV season in the same year.
  3. D&C Media's window is 2027-2028 (ComicBook). A January 2027 premiere would need an announcement by now. Season 2 was confirmed right as Season 1 ended (Popverse), and nothing comparable exists for Season 3 with the date three months out.
  4. Furuhashi asked for "breathing room" after 220,000 frames, and Crunchyroll's president talked about a "next show" rather than a season (Anime Corner, ComicBook).

So the Solo Leveling season 3 release date we would bet on is January 2028. We will move this prediction the day an announcement lands, and the tracker above changes with it.
