Best CrushOn AI alternatives in 2026: 8 AI character chat sites compared

Updated on 16 Oct 2026.

The best of the CrushOn AI alternatives for most adults is YourCrush.AI, because it keeps the facts your character must remember as pinned memories you write and edit yourself, where CrushOn sells memory by tier. After it, the pick depends on what you want: JanitorAI for a free tier and your own model, SpicyChat for memory printed in tokens, Character.AI for the mainstream app (now in a court-supervised sale), Kindroid and Nomi for one companion, Candy.ai for images and voice, and Joyland for importing character cards. Every competitor fact below comes from that app's own pages, read on 16 October 2026.

CrushOn.AI is a web platform where a language model plays a character a user wrote, paid for through monthly message credits that decide which models answer. Its terms name TECHIEPIE LTD of Cyprus as the provider (CrushOn terms).

What does CrushOn.AI publish about itself?

CrushOn.AI sells itself as "No Filter NSFW Character AI Chat" in its page title. Its own terms forbid posting material that is "NSFW, pornographic, or otherwise sexually explicit." Both lines sit on the same site.

The live site returns an error to automated readers, so we read CrushOn's own pages from Internet Archive copies made on 2 October 2026 (pricing) and 12 October 2026 (terms and FAQ). The terms of use, last modified 22 September 2026, say "The Service is provided by TECHIEPIE LTD, a company registered in Cyprus," with an office in Nicosia, and the page footer adds an address in Dover, Delaware. The same terms say the service "shall be deemed solely based in Hong Kong," so three jurisdictions appear on one site. You "affirm that You are at least 18 years of age." The FAQ shows an "I'm over 18" dialog before sensitive content, plus an optional verification by "Pay $0.99 to Verify" or free "via AgeGo."

Money and memory are where the rules bite. The September terms add Diamonds, a currency for paid creator content, and state that "Usage fees are non-refundable except as expressly provided in this Refund Policy or required by applicable law." The pricing page names six plans (Free, Standard, Premium, Luxe, Elite, Imperial) and sells memory by plan: "8K Memory" on Free, "16K Memory Models" higher up, "24K" at the top, and on Free "Chat History will be deleted after 7 days of inactivity." The dollar amounts and credit counts load by script and were not in the page copy we could read, so this post prints none. Our full CrushOn review records the September figures.

Why do people look for alternatives to CrushOn AI?

People leave CrushOn over the second meter, not the first. The subscription buys a monthly credit allowance, Pro and Ultra models consume those credits, and a separate "Pro Models Chat Package" sells "credit-free access to Pro Models" on top, per the pricing page.

Three other reasons come straight from its documents. Memory is a tier: an 8K model on Free, and a free history that is deleted after a week of inactivity. Refunds are the exception, not the rule. And the account rules are strict at the exit: the FAQ says a deleted account can be recovered only "by logging back in within 3 days of deletion." Our advice: cancel any subscription before the renewal date, export or copy what you want, then delete.

Which sites like CrushOn AI are worth using?

Eight are worth your time, ranked by how directly each answers the complaints above, starting with memory.

Why YourCrush.AI is the best pick for memory you control

YourCrush.AI is the pick for the person who left CrushOn because memory came as a tier and a chat history could expire. YourCrush.AI pins memories as an editable list per character, so a fact the character must keep is one you chose. YourCrush.AI branches a story into separate timelines, so a "what if" scene does not overwrite the main thread. YourCrush.AI builds a character with no code from a name, an image, a description, a backstory and a greeting, sets its traits and speaking style, and drafts those fields for you from just a name and an image in the character creator. It is 18+ only, conversations are not sold to third parties, and a library of ready-made characters sits on the explore page.

JanitorAI: best for a free tier and your own model

JanitorAI is a character platform where the model is a part you can swap. Its subscription FAQ, updated 25 June 2026, lists a free tier with a "Context limit of around 9k tokens" and Janitor+ with about five times the context; the App Store listing by JanitorAI, INC shows Janitor+ Monthly at $12.99, an 18+ rating and 4.5 stars across 4.8K ratings. Its minor-related content policy says the services are "exclusively intended for an audience above the age of 18." Proxies and Router are in our JanitorAI guide.

SpicyChat: best for memory you can read as a number

SpicyChat prints its context window per tier. The Tokens and Context page gives 4,096 tokens on Free and Get A Taste, 8,192 on True Supporter, and up to 32,768 on I'm All In, depending on the model. The pricing update FAQ sets those tiers at $5.95, $19.95 and $29.95 a month from 8 September 2026. Its community guidelines say "All users must be at least 18 years old" and every chatbot must be "portrayed as adults over 18 years old."

Character.AI: best for the mainstream app, if you accept the uncertainty

Character.AI has far more App Store ratings than any other app here, and an open future. Its parent filed for Chapter 11 on 12 October 2026, and the company says the platform is running during a court-supervised sale (Character.AI); what that means for your chats is in is Character.AI shutting down. Its plans page gives 15 pins on Free and 30 on lite and c.ai+, with c.ai+ at $94.99 a year. The App Store listing lists Character.AI+ at $9.99 and Lite at $4.99, rates the app 18+, and shows 4.3 stars across 560K ratings. More options are in our Character.AI alternatives guide.

Kindroid: best for one companion with layered memory

Kindroid is a single-companion app that sells memory in layers. Its subscriptions page, updated 13 October 2026, says new free accounts get a preview of 50 messages on the flagship model, after which the account becomes read-only. Subscribers get longer short-term context, Cascaded Memory for medium-term recall, and 10 Kindroids. The page prints no prices; the exact price "for your country and platform" appears at checkout, and the 3-day trial needs a payment method and converts unless cancelled.

Nomi: best for a single companion with a plain privacy line

Nomi's homepage says "All chats are anonymized and no chat data is shared with 3rd party sites," and that it is "free (no credit card required) to start chatting." It describes "short, medium, and long term memory" with no number attached. The App Store listing by AI GLIMPSE INC is rated 18+ and lists a Launch Plan at $9.99, a Standard Plan at $15.99, and Nomi Credits from 40 for $4.99.

Candy.ai: best for images, voice and video

Candy.ai is a companion site built around media; its homepage title is "AI Girlfriend App | Chat w/ Pics, Voice, & Video." Its terms, revised 22 September 2026, name EverAI Limited of Malta as operator and allow refund requests within 24 hours of payment, refused once more than 20 tokens are used, with a 14-day withdrawal right for EU and UK users. The underage policy says "users must be 18 years or older" and uses an age gate.

Joyland: best for importing a character you already wrote

Joyland suits someone carrying characters over from another site. Its creation guide asks for a description of "at least 100 words" plus a scenario, greeting, facts and example dialogue, and says Quick Create lets "you can upload JSON or PNG files to quickly import character prompts." The iPhone app is sold by ELDORIA PTE. LTD., averaging 2.75 stars across 108 ratings in Apple's lookup data.

CrushOn AI vs Janitor AI: which should you use?

Pick JanitorAI if you want a free tier with a printed context number and the option to plug in your own model. Pick CrushOn if you want Pro and Ultra model levels at several price points and you're fine paying in credits. JanitorAI states about 9K tokens free and one $12.99 subscription. CrushOn states an 8K model on Free and sells larger memory through six plans plus a Pro model package.
