Our Dream AI review: what OurDream.ai costs, what free gets you, and what its policies say

OurDream.ai is a browser-based, adults-only AI roleplay platform from Dream Studio USA, Inc. You chat with community-written characters, build your own, and generate images and video. Unlimited chat exists only on a paid plan. The subscription runs $19.99 a month or $119.88 a year, and both tiers include 1,000 dreamcoins a month. A free account pays one dreamcoin per message and cannot generate images at all. There is no mobile app, by the company's own help center. Every claim on this page comes from the platform's own terms, policies and help center, opened and read on 17 September 2026.

Two opinions to argue with by the end. "Unlimited messages" is honest, and the free tier is a turnstile rather than a trial. And a memory system described only with adjectives is a mood, not a spec.

YourCrush.AI gives a free account 400K chat tokens a month with no coin-per-message meter, which is the first thing to hold OurDream.ai against.

What is OurDream.ai, and who makes it?

OurDream.ai is a web platform where a language model plays a user-written character in an open-ended roleplay, generates images and short videos of that character on request, and takes voice calls. All of it is metered in a currency called dreamcoins. The publisher is Dream Studio USA, Inc., a Delaware corporation with a Dover mailing address. Its terms of service, last modified 26 August 2026, say ourdream.ai and ourdream.io are one service with one account. That is as much corporate structure as I am going to type.

There is no app. The help center's answer to "Do you have an app?", edited 26 August 2025, is "We don't have a standalone mobile app yet," and the community FAQ edited 3 August 2026 repeats "There is no native app." Both tell users to add the website to a phone's home screen. So there is no App Store or Google Play listing to read a data-safety label from. Anything in a store carrying the name is not this company's product.

Scale, in the platform's own words from its homepage FAQ: "over 10 million dreamers and 7 million pieces of user-generated characters." Nobody outside the company has verified those numbers. A character, from browsing the public library, is a card with an image, a long opening scene written by its creator (several on the front page run to a thousand words, with content warnings at the top), tags, and a realistic or anime art style. The site's own navigation labels the platform as adult content, and its FAQ says it generates NSFW images and video. Age and moderation come next rather than in a footnote.

Why YourCrush.AI is the better choice than OurDream.ai

YourCrush.AI publishes each memory limit as a number on its pricing page, which is the thing the rest of this article keeps asking OurDream.ai for. The plans below are as listed on 17 September 2026, and the bullets say what each number means in a chat.

PlanPriceChat tokens / monthPinned memoriesStory branchesCharacters createdImage credits / month
Free$0400K10135
Pro$9.99/mo5M5055050
Premium$19.99/moUnlimitedUnlimitedUnlimitedUnlimited200
  • YourCrush.AI pins memories as a counted, editable list per character, 10 on Free, 50 on Pro and unlimited on Premium, so a fact the character must keep is something you choose rather than something the model may or may not retain.
  • YourCrush.AI branches a story into separate timelines from a chosen point, one on Free and five on Pro, so a "what if" scene runs beside the main thread instead of overwriting it.
  • YourCrush.AI includes voice messages and in-chat image generation on the free plan, with 5 image credits and 400K chat tokens a month before any card is entered, which is a trial rather than a turnstile.
  • YourCrush.AI builds a character without code in the character creator: a name, an image, a description and backstory of up to 2,400 characters each, a greeting of up to 500, 3 to 7 traits from a list of 27, up to 4 speaking-style words and a behavior mode, and it can draft the description, backstory, greeting and traits from a name and an image.
  • YourCrush.AI restricts the platform to users 18 and over, does not sell conversations to third parties, and sorts its explore library into Anime and Human categories.

The limitations are real. YourCrush.AI does not generate video, and its voice is recorded messages rather than live calls, so if a 60-second clip of your character is the point, OurDream.ai is the one that sells it. The Free plan's 400K tokens run out in a couple of heavy roleplay weeks, and Premium at $19.99 still caps image credits at 200 a month while everything else on it is unlimited. What you get for the same $19.99 OurDream.ai charges is a memory spec you can hold the product to, with no second meter under it.

Is Our Dream AI safe?

For an adult who understands that chats are filtered and may be used to train the company's models, OurDream.ai is about as safe as any paid adult roleplay site. For anyone under 18, it is prohibited by the terms and, in some regions, blocked by an identity check. The homepage FAQ's privacy claim and the company's own policies disagree, and the policies are the documents that bind.

Two panels: a sealed envelope with a padlock on the left, and a hand holding a magnifying glass over an open letter on the right
The homepage says nobody can read the chats; the policies describe a filter, manual review and model training.

Age first. The terms say "If you are under 18 years old, do not sign up for the Services," and registration "includes an attestation that you are 18 or older and, where required by applicable law or otherwise in accordance with our policies, verification of your age at sign-up." The underage policy, last modified 9 June 2026, says that depending on geography this "may include verification through trusted third-party providers, such as government-issued ID checks, facial or biometric verification." So the gate is a checkbox by default and an ID check where a law or a payment partner demands one. Common Sense Media, working with Stanford School of Medicine's Brainstorm Lab, rated social AI companions "unacceptable" for minors on 30 April 2025 and recommended age assurance "beyond self-attestation." Outside the regions where OurDream.ai runs an ID check, self-attestation is what it uses.

Privacy second, and this is where the FAQ and the policies part ways. The homepage FAQ says chats are "safe with end-to-end encryption" and "No one can read them, not even us." The underage policy says the company has "implemented a content moderation filter based on our proprietary LLM technology" and may "manually review the flagged content," and the terms say "we may access, review, screen, edit, modify and delete your Content at any time and for any reason." The privacy policy, last modified 26 August 2026, lists "chat communications" as collected content and says it may be used "to train our artificial intelligence/machine learning models." Its actual security statement is encryption "at rest and in transit," which keeps outsiders out and is not end-to-end, because a service that filters and reviews your messages can read them. Chats are private from other users and are not private from the company. On the credit side, the same policy says the company does not currently sell personal information as Nevada law defines a sale and runs no advertising as of the policy date, and account deletion is self-serve, permanent, and forfeits unused dreamcoins.

Moderation third. The content moderation policy, last modified 9 June 2026, bans content involving minors "including implied depictions," non-consensual impersonation of real people, and sexual violence, and describes automated filters plus human review for public and flagged content. Reference photos cannot be uploaded at all, "due to possible deepfakes" per the help center. Every public character is reviewed by a person before it appears, which the community FAQ says takes three to five days against roughly 350 to 450 submissions a day, and the help center admits the filter "is a bit too sensitive right now and may flag safe content."

Two outside reference points. On 11 September 2025 the US Federal Trade Commission opened a 6(b) inquiry into companion chatbots at seven companies including Character Technologies, Meta and OpenAI, asking how they "monetize user engagement," "use or share personal information obtained through users' conversations," and enforce "age restrictions." Dream Studio is not among the seven, so the inquiry says nothing about OurDream.ai directly. It does name the three questions this section just asked. And a four-week randomized trial of 981 people by MIT Media Lab and OpenAI, posted March 2025, found that participants who chose to use the chatbot more "showed consistently worse outcomes" on loneliness and dependence, whether they used text or voice. A platform that sells unlimited messages is selling the thing that trial measured.

What does OurDream.ai cost, and what does the free tier include?

OurDream.ai costs $19.99 a month billed monthly, or $119.88 billed once a year (the site quotes that as $9.99 a month), and a free account gets no images, no video and one dreamcoin per message. Both paid plans include unlimited text chat with any character and 1,000 dreamcoins a month, with the yearly plan depositing 2,000 up front. Every price here was read on 17 September 2026.

Anime character feeding a single coin into a slot for every speech bubble that appears
One dreamcoin per message on the free tier, and coins cannot be bought without a subscription.

The free tier is where the marketing and the help center diverge. The homepage button says "Join Free." The dreamcoin cost guide, edited 2 March 2026, says "If you are not a subscriber, every chat will cost 1 coin each," and a separate help article says "You currently need an active subscription to purchase dreamcoins," while the community FAQ says "The only way to receive free Dreamcoins is through referrals." Image and video generation require a subscription outright, and after cancelling, generated images "will become blurred till you re-subscribe." Put those together and a free account is a way to browse the library and send a few messages on whatever starter coins it was given. The help center does not publish how many coins a new account starts with, so I am not going to guess.

Dreamcoins are the second meter, and the one that decides what $19.99 buys. From the same cost guide: an in-chat image is 5 coins, a standard generation is 10 coins for two images, a voice call is 50 coins a minute, a standard video is 100 coins per five seconds up to 1,200 coins for the 60-second maximum, an ultra-quality video is 200 coins, creating a chatbot is 10 coins with two portrait images included, and a character's community image pack is 250 to 1,000 coins. The "Genius" chat models cost 1 coin per response even for subscribers. So the 1,000 coins in a monthly plan are 20 minutes of voice calls, or 50 seconds of standard video, or 200 in-chat images, and nothing else that month. The homepage argues the included coins make it cheaper than platforms that sell tokens on top. That holds for someone who mostly types. It fails for anyone who wants voice or video.

Refunds have two rulebooks. The refund policy, last modified 9 March 2026, keeps a cancelled subscription active to the end of the billing period with no refund of the unused portion, honours the 14-day withdrawal right for EEA, UK and Swiss consumers, and makes cryptocurrency payments final. The help center's refund article, edited 13 February 2026, adds the working rule: "We cannot issue refunds for product that has used more than 25% of it's amount." Coins do not expire, but once the subscription lapses you cannot buy more and cannot see the images they generated. The pricing copy does not mention that lock-in.

Does OurDream.ai remember conversations, and how does character creation work?

OurDream.ai publishes no number for memory. The homepage FAQ's entire specification is "Your companion uses advanced memory systems. It remembers past chats and grows with you over time." Character creation, by contrast, is documented down to the coin.

On memory, that sentence is all there is: no context length, no count of saved facts, no retention window, no statement of whether the Genius models remember more than the standard ones. So the only way to know what the companion holds is to test it. State one odd, specific fact in your second message, talk about other things for six turns, ask for it indirectly at turn nine, then ask again in a new session two days later. The ten-minute version of that test, with results for seven platforms, is in how to sort AI companion apps by memory, voice and privacy. Whatever survives is the memory you are paying $19.99 a month for.

On character creation, the homepage FAQ describes an appearance generator with realistic or anime styles and controls for "face, body type, hair, clothing, and accessories," then personality fields for "traits, interests, communication styles, and relationship dynamics." A new chatbot costs 10 dreamcoins including two portraits. Public sharing requires a paid account plus the human review. Two clauses in the terms decide whether to put your best work there. You "own all rights" in a character you create, and in the same paragraph you grant Dream Studio a "nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, fully paid up, transferable, sublicensable, perpetual, irrevocable license" to "exploit, commercialize and otherwise use the Character," including "promoting the Services on- or off-platform." The privacy policy adds that a public character which "reaches a certain threshold of popularity" may be kept active "even if you otherwise delete your data and your account." Your character can outlive your account. Publish copies, keep originals.

What are the alternatives to OurDream.ai, and how do you compare them?

The alternatives are the other card-plus-model roleplay platforms: Character.AI, PolyBuzz, Talkie, SpicyChat, YourCrush.AI, and a long tail of smaller apps. To compare them, run three checks against each company's own pages instead of trusting anyone's ranking. Is memory stated as a number or as an adjective? Does the privacy policy, whatever the FAQ claims, allow the company to read, filter, or train on chats? And what's the real monthly price once the second meter (coins, tokens, credits) is added for the things you actually do?

Run those on OurDream.ai and the line reads: adjective; reads, filters, and trains, per its own policies; $19.99 plus 1,000 coins that cover 20 minutes of voice. That line is my whole OurDream review. PolyBuzz gets the same treatment in what PolyBuzz is and what its memory tier buys, and it fails the first check the same way. Most of the category does, which is why the check is worth ten minutes before any month of money.

Frequently asked questions

Is Our Dream AI safe?

For adults, it's about as safe as any paid adult roleplay platform, with one correction to its own FAQ. The policies say chats are filtered by an LLM, may be manually reviewed, and may be used to train the company's models. Under-18s are prohibited by the terms, and ID checks only happen where a region requires them.

Is OurDream.ai free?

Free to register and browse, paid to use. A non-subscriber pays one dreamcoin per message, cannot buy coins without a subscription, and cannot generate images or video. Unlimited chat runs $19.99 a month or $119.88 a year, each with 1,000 dreamcoins a month.

Is there an OurDream.ai app?

No. The help center (26 August 2025) and the community FAQ (3 August 2026) both say there's no native app and tell users to add the website to their home screen. Treat any store app carrying the name as unrelated.

What are dreamcoins and what do they cost to use?

Dreamcoins are the platform's currency for everything beyond subscriber text chat. Per the help center on 17 September 2026: 5 coins for an in-chat image, 10 coins for two standard images, 50 coins a minute for voice calls, 100 coins per five seconds of video, 10 coins to create a chatbot. A subscription deposits 1,000 a month, and they don't expire.

Does OurDream.ai remember past conversations?

The company says its companions use "advanced memory systems" and remember past chats, and publishes no number for how much or for how long. Run a turn-nine and a next-day recall test on a free account before paying, because the paid tier doesn't state a memory difference.

What are the alternatives to OurDream.ai?

Character.AI, PolyBuzz, Talkie, SpicyChat and YourCrush.AI run the same character-card-plus-model loop. Compare on whether memory is a number, what the privacy policy (not the FAQ) says about reading and training on chats, and the monthly price once coins or tokens are added. YourCrush.AI states memory as pinned counts, 10 free and 50 on the $9.99 Pro plan.

OurDream.ai prints the price of every image, second of video and minute of voice to the coin, and prints nothing about what its companion remembers. Until that number exists, the $19.99 buys unlimited messages to a character whose memory you have to measure yourself.
