When is Chainsaw Man season 2 coming out?

No one official has said. The June 2026 teaser "confirms the main staff" and nothing else about timing, and Anime.com's report of the same livestream states plainly that "a release date has not been announced" (Anime News Network, Anime.com).

The 2027 figure comes from journalists doing arithmetic. Beebom expects the anime "to possibly arrive in late 2027", reasoning that the first season and the Reze Arc film each arrived roughly two years after they were announced (Beebom). GamesRadar, republished on Yahoo on 29 September 2026, put it at "2027 at the earliest" (Yahoo). Both are reasonable. Neither is a date.

Is the Assassins Arc a TV season or a movie?

Nobody has said. Hypebeast's write-up of the Jump Festa reveal noted that "it remains unclear whether the project will be released episodically or as a film," and the June staff announcement didn't settle it either (Hypebeast, Anime News Network).

Treat "season 2" as fan shorthand, not an official label. The only hint pointing toward a film came from a report that got pulled: Beebom writes that Oricon briefly described the project as a movie before editing its post, and advises reading that "with a grain of salt" (Beebom). I couldn't open the original Oricon post myself, so I'm leaving it unverified.

Who is directing the Assassins Arc anime?

Tatsuya Yoshihara is back at MAPPA to direct, after handling Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc. The rest of the core team carries over too. Hiroshi Seko writes the scripts, Kazutaka Sugiyama handles character design, Kensuke Ushio composes the music, and Kiyotaka Oshiyama designs the devils (Anime News Network).

What follows is our analysis, not news. We expect the format, TV or film, to be announced at the Jump Festa 2027 stage on 19 and 20 December 2026, with a premiere no earlier than the second half of 2027.

The reasoning runs from the order of the announcements. The project went from "announced" in December 2025 to "staffed" in June 2026, and the next unanswered question is the format, which has to come before a date can mean anything (Anime News Network). Chainsaw Man has a Super Stage slot in December (CBR), the obvious place for that answer. The second half of 2027 follows from the two-year rhythm Beebom points to: December 2025 plus roughly two years is late 2027 (Beebom). Length does not settle the format question for us. The Reze Arc film covered two manga volumes, 5 and 6, and the Assassins Arc is also two volumes, 7 and 8 (Wikipedia, Wikipedia chapter list), so a second film fits the material as well as a TV run does.
