About the Fullmetal Alchemist world
Fullmetal Alchemist is Hiromu Arakawa's fantasy adventure about the Elric brothers, who pay a terrible price when they try to bring their mother back with alchemy. The world
Alchemy follows the law of Equivalent Exchange: to gain something, something of equal value must be lost. State Alchemists serve the military of Amestris, and their power was used in the Ishval war. Human transmutation is forbidden. Automail, advanced mechanical limbs, replaces what people lose, and the homunculi, named after the seven deadly sins, work in the shadows.
